This summer I am issuing a challenge to myself and to my family: if we want to go anywhere within a one mile radius of our house, we are going to walk or ride bikes.  We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world and we live about a mile from: our grocery store, some of our favorite parks, our cousins, the swimming pool, the movie theater, and many restaurants.  We don't live right in the "City" but we live in a quaint little neighborhood that is so close to so much.  And yet we DRIVE ALL THE TIME!  Of course, it is snowy and brrrrrrr, cold about six months of the year, but for the summer, for three short months, can we leave our car in the garage if we are going less than a mile?  My one caveat is that I will allow us one weekly trip to the grocery store to get what we need for the week - there are six of us, so I don't see us being able to bring it all home on our bikes!  Can we do it??  We shall see!
